A game character became real.
I was in the middle of a game when it happened.
One second I was fighting off a group of infected, the next I was standing in the middle of a park with no idea how I got there.
I looked around, but there was no one else in sight.
The park was empty, except for a few trees and benches, and the tall buildings that surrounded it were dark and silent.
I had no idea where I was or how I’d gotten there, but I knew one thing for sure: this wasn’t part of the game.
I’d been playing for hours, trying to get to the next level, and then suddenly everything went black and I was here.
Wherever here was.
I looked down at myself and realized that something was very wrong.
I was still wearing my black leather jacket and jeans, but my hands were different.
They were glowing, with a strange, intricate symbol etched into the skin.
I turned my hands over, trying to make sense of it.
The symbol pulsed with a faint blue light, almost like it was alive.
Panic started to set in.
This wasn’t just some glitch or bug in the game.
This was real.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down.
Think, Alex, think.
I needed to figure out where I was and what was happening to me.
I heard footsteps approaching and quickly ducked behind a nearby tree.
A group of teenagers walked by, laughing and chatting loudly.
They seemed normal enough, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
I watched them closely, hoping they might give me some clue about where I was.
One of the teenagers, a girl with bright red hair, suddenly dropped her phone.
It hit the ground with a loud clatter, and she quickly bent down to pick it up.

As she did, I caught a glimpse of the screen.
There was a news alert flashing across it: “Mysterious Figure Appears in City Park.”
The girl’s eyes widened as she read it, and she looked around nervously.
“Did you guys see this?” she asked, showing the phone to her friends.
They all crowded around her, reading the alert with wide eyes.
“What do you think it means?” one of them asked.
“I don’t know,” the red-haired girl replied. “But it’s kind of creepy, don’t you think?”
They all nodded in agreement, casting wary glances around the park.
I knew I had to follow them.
Maybe they would lead me to some answers.
I waited until they started walking again before slipping out from behind the tree and trailing them at a safe distance.
They walked through the park, chatting nervously about the news alert and what it could mean.
I kept my distance, trying not to draw attention to myself.

As we reached the edge of the park, I noticed that the streets beyond were completely deserted.
No cars, no people—nothing.
It was like a ghost town.
The teenagers seemed just as confused as I was.
“Where is everyone?” one of them asked.
“I don’t know,” another replied. “This is so weird.”
We continued walking, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being watched.
Every now and then, I would glance over my shoulder, but there was never anyone there.
Suddenly, one of the teenagers stopped dead in their tracks.
“Did you hear that?” he whispered.
The others froze, straining to listen.
I held my breath, trying to hear whatever it was that had spooked them.
There it was again—a faint rustling sound coming from somewhere nearby.
We all turned towards the source of the noise, our eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of movement.
