I am the smartest in the world.
Chapter 1
I was a genius.
I’d always known it, but now I had proof.
The device I’d created had worked beyond my wildest dreams.
I’d tested it on myself first, and the results were staggering.
My IQ had increased by over a hundred points in less than a week.
I could feel my brain expanding, my thoughts moving faster and faster, until they were almost too quick to follow.
It was like being on a drug that made me smarter instead of dumber.
And the best part?
There were no side effects.
Everything about me was perfect: my long chestnut hair, my deep blue eyes, the shape of my mouth and nose and chin.
My body was small but curvy in all the right places, with perfect porcelain skin that seemed to glow from within.
I’d always been a perfectionist, pushing myself to excel in every area of my life since I was a little girl.
At the age of nineteen, after completing high school and college at the same time, I’d joined MIT for my Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Psychology.
My grades were exceptional—I’d been at the top of every class—and I had secured a coveted spot in one of the best neuroscience labs in the world under Dr. Gerald Lazerfield’s direction.
But it hadn’t taken me long to realize that merely working under Dr. Lazerfield wouldn’t be enough for me.
Genius Incarnate: The Price of Intelligence
I needed to make my own discoveries, blaze new trails in neuroscience that no one else had ever thought of before.
And so I decided to focus on enhancing human intelligence by reprogramming the brain from within, rather than depending on traditional methods like education or external stimuli such as drugs or hypnosis.
With this goal in mind, I’d made a few key breakthroughs while at MIT that got me noticed by Raytheon Industries, who had offered me a job shortly after graduation and provided me with an isolated lab within their secure facility where I could conduct my research without interference from anyone else.
Genius Incarnate: The Price of Intelligence
For the past ten years, I’d been working on my project, tweaking and revising the design whenever I thought it necessary.
And two weeks ago, I’d finally been able to test it on myself for the first time.
It had worked beautifully; my IQ had increased by over a hundred points in less than a week, just as I predicted.
My brain cells were multiplying at an astonishing rate, making me smarter by the minute.
